PNMF News Home

Welcome to the new PNMF website! It is still under construction and we’ll be adding content regularly so check back often. Please browse the site and check out the new look. And while you’re at it, if you see any misspellings, errors, bad links or any other problems, please let me know by emailing me directly and I’ll get it corrected ASAP. Also, we really want to keep the site fresh, relevant and a place our members and the general public come for all things Mastiff. If you have something that you think would be a good news article, an event we should add to the calendar or a picture and story for the Rainbow Bridge, please feel free to pass it along and I’ll get it published.

PNMF is working on AKC recognition!!! We are excited to announce that PNMF has recently been granted the opportunity by the AKC to become a recognized club! We are now able to hold a Sanction B match and are in the process of identifying when we may be able to hold our first match. After holding two B matches we will be granted permission to hold an A match. After holding two successful A matches we will become fully licensed by the AKC and be able to apply to hold our own designated specialty. This is a huge step forward for us and we are thrilled for what this means for the future of our club.

PNMF is now a 501(c)(3) charitable organization!!! Over the last year we have been working to organize the Education and Rescue committees into a Washington State not-for-profit S Corporation and acquire federal IRS charitable status. Last month the IRS notified us we have been accepted as a 501(c)(3) public charity organization.

We are now two distinct organizations. The parent club is the same as it always has been operating under the same By-laws and Code of Ethics as it has in the past and a new affiliated organization known as Pacific Northwest Mastiff Fanciers Education and Rescue, Inc. with a “doing business as” name of PNMF Education and Rescue, Inc. This organization has its own articles of incorporation but will also operate under the clubs By-laws and Code of Ethics. This means the two organizations share board of directors, elections, etc. The main difference is income, expenses and donations specific to Education and Rescue will be managed through the new organization. Additionally, as an S Corporation PNMF Education and Rescue will afford the membership better liability indemnification as we engage in our education and rescue activities.

Going forward, donations to Education and Rescue are tax deductible. Also, given our tax deductible status is retroactive to July 29th, donations made at the fun-match should also be tax deductible. We will be investigating how our membership will be able to benefit from this for this tax year and will send out an update as soon as we get things nailed down.
